Friday Night Movies #3 Book of Eli

Book of Eli review
When I began watching this film, the only question on my mind was is this going to be Denzel Washington's one bad film. The answer to that question is no this movie is probably his best film. This movie takes place in a post apocalyptic America. Where Eli played by Denzel Washington is a traveler who posses the last Bible on earth. Now first off Denzel Washington was outstanding in this film. His character was virtually unstoppable throughout the entirety of the film. He had about seven men shooting at him and they all missed.Thats just how unbeatable Eli is throughout the entire movie. Another thing this movie has going for is the bone crushing action scenes. Most of these epic fights are Eli out number seven to one and he still manages to come away with only a little blood on his knife.. This movie is violent and gory, but that just makes it so realistic. When you first see Eli rummaging through a dead body for supplies, you realize just how dark of a film this is. With such an intense story most people would probably mark this one off their watch list but please don't. Over all this movie is very intense and thrilling from start to finish. Its good for a Friday night thriller that will leave you in awe. I'm giving it a 9 out of 10. The only problem i have with it is that its not a movie I could watch at any time. Its probably a one time watch but that one time is an amazing time. So in conclusion check out Book of Eli as soon as you can. I won't disappoint you in anyway and will give you an appreciation for the little things like clean water. Book of Eli is a must see for anyone who calls himself a film fanatic

Classic Movie Wednesday #1 Philadelphia

Philadelphia movie review.

Philadelphia is a movie about a respected lawyer"played by Tom Hanks" who is a homosexual man who develops Aids. Once his law firm finds out they fire him. Now he has decided to sue his law firm and hires a lawyer to do so played by Denzel Washington. Now let me first say Denzel Washington did a fantastic job. He really seemed like he had genuine feeling for Tom Hanks character. Also the way he presented himself through out the film was remarkable. I could easily see him being a lawyer. Tom Hanks did a great job in this film as well. During some of the scenes where he was becoming ill or when his illness was getting worse were very impactful. You could really see the emotion through the way he presented himself from scene to scene. Another thing good about this movie was the plot. It really wasn't a court room drama. This movie has heart to it and some really emotional parts. Because after you see the swells on his body you realize just how real it is and you begin to feel extremely bad for him. In conclusion this movie is good. It gets a 7 out of 10, its not quite perfect and some people may not enjoy it, but I strongly recommend you give a chance. So head over to your nearest library or block buster and pick up Philadelphia. It may not crack you top ten movies of all time but it makes for a good rainy day movie.

Friday Night Movies #2 The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises Review

This the third installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman series. This was one of the most anticipated films of this year and it truly lives up to all of the expectations. After this film's predecessor The Dark Knight's massive success, most people were unsure whether or not this film would be as good. The standard the Dark Knight set for super hero films is almost unreachable, but the Dark Knight Rises reaches that standard and more in my opinion. First off Christian Bale was outstanding in this movie he really played the part of our beloved dark knight justice. The emotional presence he brought to the screen was impeccable. You could feel his emotion and feeling he acted as if Gotham city was his home town. Now for the villain Bane, I was excited to see that Bane was getting to be a major villain for once not a henchmen like in Batman and Robin. The guy actually has a brain behind all that rage and brute strength. Tom Hardy in my opinion stole the show as Bane. When his character spoke or walked you couldn't help but stare in awe. Just waiting in the anticipation of what is he going to do next. Now the last of the main three characters Cat Woman. She was played by Anne Hathaway who I was personally unsure of due to the fact that she had never really played a villain before. But to my surprise she was pretty amazing as cat woman. The way she moved as if she was really a thief was remarkable. In addition to the amazing cast this film has an thrilling story. I'm not going to give anything away due to the fact that spoilers ruin a movie for people. But this movie is a thrill ride from start to finish. Its not your average superhero movie because its story has substance and a realistic feel to it. In conclusion the Dark Knight Rises gets a 10 out of 10. Whether or not this movie is better than the Dark Knight is all up to you because i frankly don't want to choose. To me they are like Bible verse's I love them both equally. Would I see this movie again? Absolutely and in fact I have plans to see it in Imax 3D for my next viewing. So in conclusion the Dark Knight Rises is well worth your money and is this critic's favorite movie of this year.

Avengers Movie Review

Avengers Movie Review
Earths mightiest hero's have finally assembled on to the big screen. This movie was revolutionary as far as comic book films are concerned. A shear phenomena due to the fact of the giant crossover done by four of our most praised superheros. The team consist of probably four of the most well known super hero's marvel has. First off Marvel Studios you never cease to amaze me with your cast selecting skills. Probably the person that stood out the most was Robert Downey Jr as Iron man. He was outrageously funny throughout the whole film, but could easily draw you back in for an intense serious moment. Now the one character that caught every one's attention was the Hulk. Director Joss Whedon 's Hulk was captivating every time he entered the screen. For me, I believed the Hulk had something to prove after the last movie because I didn't feel his dominance as much. The Hulk in this movie was actually funny. It wasn't even anything he said it was his actions and comedic timing that made him hilarious. The plot of the Avengers isn't your average superhero movie's. Its actually unpredictable at times and shocking at others. In addition not only is the Avengers a great film due to plot and characters, but it also looks stunning. The CGI is outstanding. It literally looks like the Hulk is standing right next to Captain America. In conclusion Marvels the Avengers gets a 10 out of 10. For myself and comic book fans this movie can't disappoint you in any way. My recommendation go see the Avengers in the nearest Imax or 3D theater near you. Its defiantly worth your time and if you are like myself you will want to see it over and over again.

Friday Night Movie's #1 Amazing Spiderman

 The Amazing Spider Man Review
This was round four for our beloved Peter Parker in an attempt to produce a film worthy of this beloved superhero. Some would say this was too early of a reboot for the Spider Man franchise, but after the disappointment of the last three installments this movie could not have come fast enough. First of all, Marvel Studios did a fantastic job on the cast selection; Andrew Garfield was extremely captivating. He  proved to be a great choice for portraying our web-spinning science geek. He really seemed like he cared about the role, displaying a Spider Man who was emotional, but not in a sad depressed kind of way like Tobey Maguire who seemed like he was taping an episode of What I Like About . It would have been nice to see a little more of the signature Spider man sarcasm and cockiness, though. Additionally, the Lizard stood out to me as an incredible enemy, especially when you consider how many other movie villains are currently vying to grasp the audience's attention in modern cinema. He seemed next to unstoppable throughout the duration of the movie. The Amazing Spider Man was thrilling and intense. The plot was awesome and showed a more realistic display of Peter Parker obtaining his powers and adapting to them. In conclusion, this movie was visually stunning; the action scenes looked and felt intense. I did not have the pleasure of seeing it in 3D, but wish i would have. So the Amazing Spider man gets an 8 out 10. It's not perfect, but overall it is still a great movie well worth your time and money. Now as for Marvel Studios: you have eliminated 1/3 of the mental scarring from the last three films, so lets make two more to ease the pain we got from watching that sad puppy: Tobey.
