Friday night Movie #8 Pitch Perfect

Pitch Perfect Poster
Pitch Perfect Movie Review

What happens when a wanna be DJ that doesn't really know how to make friends joins an all female singing group? Well, lots of old and new songs we all know may or may not love are sung by people we don't know. Their are two characters I liked in this film the first was the main character Bella and the second Fat Amy. Bella had this personality that I mostly see from male characters. That personality is the girl, guy who doesn't really care about any body and is too cool for anything but what they are passionate for.Bella was played by Anna Kendrick who did a really good job. The character she was portraying worked extremely well. Now, Fat Amy was probably my favorite character because she had these witty remarks that I always enjoy from people, sarcasm is always funny. Fat Amy was played by Rebel Wilson who I am interested seeing more of in the future. Her comedic timing was really good and she has this Chris Farley confidence about her that makes her fun to watch. The music in this film was well done and the song battles that they had were better than the competitions. I found my self enjoying this one portion of the film where all of the groups on campus are having one big duel. My favorite song was "Bruno Mars Just the way you are" it was done perfectly. This song was also a turning point because all of the girls became a team after this moment and not to mention sounded fantastic. In conclusion Pitch Perfect is probably the best film I've seen that was about singing groups. It is miles above Joyful noise ,which was dolly trying to regain her youth and rip off the massive mask. After watching this film you will get some of the songs stuck in your head and they probably won't leave. I am giving Pitch Perfect a 7 out of 10. The jokes work and the sounds are outstanding. If you don't know what to watch on a Friday night like I did give this film a try. You won't regret it.

This Means War movie review

 This Means War movie review

Let me begin by saving I only watched this movie because their wasn't anything else on at the moment. This Means War is about two spies who meet the same girl and make a bet of who can get her to love them first. At a glance this appears to be one of those romantic movies that attempts to gain male view. It sadly fails at this like every other romance. This film has a great cast with Chris Pine, Tom Hardy and Reese Witherspoon. So basically Bane and Captain Kirk are fighting for Ell Woods heart. Chris Pine was good in this film not up to star trek good but still good. His action scenes were entertaining and his sarcasm was enjoyable for a while but eventually seemed like whining. Tom Hardy was okay in this movie seemed like he was trying to be James Bond but at the same time trying to be funny. He honestly should have just reprised his role from Inception because that's the character that I was looking for the entire time. Just stick to being Gotham's reckoning Tom Hardy. Reese Witherspoon as usual was good its understandable why two spies would fight over her. She was playing an independent woman which was a first for her. Normally she plays either the dumb blonde or the scared girl. he connection with both male actors was good but her scenes with Tom Hardy seemed like she was scared almost. Maybe she had just seen Batman and feared him just as much as Anne Hathaway. Its almost like ew I'm kissing Bane get Kirk back here now. In addition the action scenes in this film were surprising good normally they are cheesy but the were decent. They were incredibly intense but in one scene Tom Hardy has a Rambo moment playing paintball. In conclusion this means war is a good movie better than this critic expected. I'm going to give it a 6 out of 10 only because its a romance and most romances are highly predictable which this film is. The action is decent and the acting is sub par but over all a good movie for a rainy day. I wouldn't buy it but maybe red box for a dollar.

The Fugitive Movie Review

The Fugitive Poster

The Fugitive movie review.
This movie is kind of old but is a must see for anyone. Harrison Ford on in anything is usually greatness waiting to happen. In this film he plays a doctor who is accused of his wife's murder, and after being arrested he escapes because the transport bus taking him crashes. Now he is on the run as a fugitive hints the title. This film stars Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. I loved both of them in this film their chemistry was great. Tommy Lee Jones plays the US Marshal in this film who in charge of capturing the escaped prisoners. He really plays an officer nicely because he is usually better in more serious roles. One line in the movie where Tommy Lee Jones and Harrison Ford have a stare down. Harrison tells him he didn't murder his wife and Tommy Lee Jones answers I don't Care. In typical Tommy Lee Jones fashion you could tell by the expression on his face that he truly didn't care. Harrison Ford in this film was almost Han Solo again. A fugitive on the run, minus chewbacca of course. Along with a good pair of leading actors this film is also action packed. it seems like even the site of Harrison Ford moving papers is exciting. "looks and looks and then bites burger" even scenes like this would be exciting. This film draws you in from beginning to end and has your heart racing and skipping a few beats. In conclusion the Fugitive is one of my favorite Harrison Ford films. it gives you everything from a drama to an action to even a mystery. If you were to give him a black mask with ears he could be Batman at the end of the Dark Knight running from the police. Honestly their isn't much that could make this film better. I'm glad they didn't ruin all of this action with some pointless love interest like they usually do. So the Fugitive gets a 8 out of 10 in my book. This is one old film that is going on my must get DVD or blu ray list. next time your out look for the fugitive it gives you everything you want it will not disappoint.

Jesus Christ Superstar Movie Review

Jesus Christ Superstar Movie Review

I began watching this film with an open mind. I generally don't enjoy musicals turned movies, and this one is no exception. Honestly its ignorant and inaccurate. Watching Jesus sing is entertaining, but with some of the fluff  they filled it with just makes me hate it. They only thing I enjoyed about this film is the music. So thank you Andrew Lloyd Webber for another great musical score. Looking through this list of actors the one word that kept coming to mind was who is that. I'm honestly not going to mention any of them because they were all bad. The voices were good but all of them could have be replaced. I could sing the book of Mark aloud and get the same result. Be warned you will learn things in this movie. For one did you know they have tanks when Jesus was alive? Or that Israel had postcards you could send through the mail to your friends? I think the title you we changed to Woodstock everyone is dressed like they belong at an old Aerosmith concert. All of this modern technology and clothing is just outrageous. Apparently Jesus was so threatening that the Roman guards had to develop guns in order to keep him in line. In addition the devil portrayed as a guy who actually won in Vegas. He looks like a cross between Newman from Seinfeld and Elton John. At least the majority of the bible portrayed here is accurate. Id really like to burn every copy of this movie in existence. In conclusion the music is kinda catchy, but the everything else is just stupid. One thing that could make it better would be if Indiana Jones was looking for the Arc and Covenant while everything else is going. Maybe even fight some of these Roman Guards they have guns and he has a whip sounds like every Indiana Jones film. Or you could have Cheech and Chong make an appearance I'm sure they wouldn't mind reliving Woodstock. I give this movie a 4 out of 10. Everything that makes this a movie is awful but I have to admit the music was good. If you considering checking this out. Save yourself the visual scaring and listen to the soundtrack and pretend. Jesus Christ Superstar not a classic what so ever.

Classic Movie Wednesday #6 Princess Bride

Princess Bride Movie Review

This movie is just one of those films that you have to see  to believe. Just from looking at the poster of this film you would guess it is a romance film but you would be wrong it is in fact a comedy. This movie basically makes fun of fairy tales the entire time. This movie is extremely quotable and will have you laughing from beginning to end. One of the main things this film has going for it is comedic timing. These actors have a great chemistry and the jokes flow together so well. The actors really are taking their lines like they are in a serious film which is what makes it so great. None of them laugh during a joke and take every line as if they were actually living in this world. Now in order to understand the jokes in this film your should probably think about does movies like Spaceballs make me laugh. If so minus the sexual jokes this movies is just like it. One thing that surprised me about this film was Andre the Giant his character was one of the funniest. My main concern with him was that his voice is hard to understand but I could understand him perfectly. Also Mandy Patinkin character " who is shown in the picture above" was my favorite character in this film he was funny from beginning to end. The plot of this film is actually pretty complex for a fairy tale, but I'm only going to say its good because I don't want to pre blow your mind. One thing this film is missing would be a Heman joke or two. I have the power!!!!!!! The power to do what exactly? Stop a lame villain, yes you Heman yes you do. In conclusion Princess Bride is one of those comedies you have to see before you bite the dust. When you watch this film you will realize just how ignorant those fairy tales really are. Seriously, a girl who falls into a coma and is suddenly woke up by a strange man in her room kissing her. Please don't make a live action movie for that Snow White and the Huntsman was a semi success or as I call it Thor origins but that doesn't mean all of them could be. So Princess Bride gets a 7 out of 10. Honestly you should stop what ever you are doing and find this movie its inconceivable that most of America hasn't seen it.

Classic Movie Wednesday #5 The Sound of Music

Sound of Music Movie Review

This film is highly regarded as one of the best films of all time. An instant classic most will say. Unlike my peers i didn't enjoy this film as much as i anticipated. So if you love this movie honestly you could hate me after this, but please listen to all of the points i make through out this review. For those who haven't viewed it please understand this is my opinion therefore in order for you to understand whether you like it or not you should view it for yourself. Let me first begin by talking about the plot, its about a nun who suddenly decides she doesn't want to be a nun and becomes a families nanny. Throughout her stay she teaches the kids to sing and grow closer as a family. Honestly what does this have to do with music? I understand its a musical but seriously why not call it The Nun reject or The Nanny. In addition this film takes place in World War Two, now that's what they should have put more emphasis on. Have the family grow closer but have more Nazis. Our main character Maria is played by Julie Andrews. Julie Andrews is the only reason this movie is descent. Her voice is impeccable and her acting was great. For the other characters they are easily forgettable, about thirty minutes after viewing this is forgot everyone of these kids names. In continuation the songs in this film get stuck in you head. That doesn't make them good though the opening song could easily be like the call me maybe song not great at all but still gets stuck in your head. Believe it or not the nuns actually have a song number and honestly it was bad. If they remake this film they should have the nuns sing Like a Virgin or Love Stinks that would make this epic. In conclusion the sound of music is an okay movie. It gets a 5 out of 10 its okay but one more song number away from awful. What could have made this better? For starters better actors to play the kids or better yet a movie with just Julie Andrews. If you want to make it a classic make the father Adam West and tell him he is Batman. He could show the kids how to use Shark  repellent. So if you want a descent time watch The Sound of Music on a day you have nothing to do.

Friday Night Movies #7 Green Lantern

Green Lantern Movie Review

When rumors first arose of one of my favorite superhero's would be receiving their own movie I was ecstatic. Green Lantern is such a dynamic character. He is cynical and sarcastic in retrospect  he is my kind of guy. In all honesty i wasn't that pleased with the film itself mostly pertaining to the plot. The plot itself isn't very interesting and for me doesn't really have to do with green lantern. Most of  this film takes place on Earth and if you know anything about Green Lantern you should know that a vast majority of what he does take place in space. He is the guardian of a huge sector of the universe not just Earth. In addition our main hero is played by Ryan Reynolds. He was one of the few characters I actually enjoyed watching. He was a perfect fit for this character he captured every aspect of Green Lantern that I could want. As for  Peter Sarsgard's character Hector, I really could have done without him. When he died at the end i was extremely happy because he was just annoying. His character was just so needy they made him way to jealous over such a stupid thing. Oh i didn't get any love from my father, who cares Hector you big headed freak. Another thing as the film went on his head got bigger. Seriously it got gross some moments i was waiting for it to explode. He reminds me of Freaky Fred from Courage the Cowardly Dog. A giant head, talks to himself and people are afraid of him wow that's a close match. Other than the lack luster cast this movie also disappoints in CGI work. Through out the entire movie it seems like Ryan Reynolds is being consumed by a green blob. Another good comparison would be the scene of the Dark Knight where all the jail guards are surrounding the guy with a phone in his chest. That's what the Green Lantern chest reminds me of I'm just waiting for someone to make their phone call. Also the color green used for his suit reminds me of the Eco plasma from Ghostbusters. What you should get out of this is that Bill Murray was the first Green Lantern. I can imagine him now Sinestro" you are a disgrace to his memory for wearing his ring". Bill Murray" yeah you too pal". He is now officially casted for the retired Green Lantern movie. Who ya gonna call, Green Lantern! In conclusion I'm am now excited for the second Green Lantern movie hopefully they can attempt to make Green Lantern more like Batman. Sinestro is going to be an awesome villain for the next film if they make him like the Joker dark. Green Lantern gets a 4 out of 10 poor Ryan Reynold such a good job in this movie to bad everyone else didn't get the memo that it was supposed to be kinda serious. So instead of watching this watch Batman because Batman is what is right with the world.

In Addition due to constant nagging of one of my fans. Michael Clarke Duncan rest in peace your part was actually decent. To bad you couldn't have had a bigger role in this movie.

My Top Ten Movies of all Time

This list is comprised of my favorite movies of all time. My list was determined on account of two factors the re watch factor and Story or plot factor. The first factor is basically could I watch this again or how often do I watch it. The second factor is basically do I get engaged to whats going on does the story become so interesting to where I ignore everything around me. A good movie should have both of these things.

Lets begin with #10 The Shawshank Redemption

#9 Back to the Future Trilogy
    •

The Back to the Future series is just one for the ages. I haven't found one person that doesn't like these movies. These movies bring us some of the greatest quotes of all time. Great Scott!!!

     #8 Forrest Gump

This movie brings so many memorable quotes and moments and is one of the funniest movies of all time. Its safe to say that they average person has seen this movie at least 3 times if not more. Honesty I could watch this movie any time and never get bored.

    #7 Mission Impossible 3

One of greatest thrill rides of all time. This movie kept me guessing from begging to end. Tom Cruise is probably my favorite actor so having him kill people makes everything better. Everytime I watch it I still get sucked into the plot and it always suprises me.

    #6 Gladiator

One word Russel Crowe. This movie is one of the greatest of all time. Give Russel Crowe a sword and say kill these men and you have a hit. After I first watched this movie I immediately turned it on again. It never gets old, in fact i love it more every time i see it.

    #5 Hoosiers

Hoosiers is my favorite sports of all time. Gene Hackman does a fantastic job and the story entertains me every time. I literally watched this movie four times one day.

#4 Star Wars Empire Strikes Back

Out of all the Star Wars films this is the most memorable. One of the greatest quotes of all time " Luke I am your father" how can you not love it. The fight scenes in this film keep you at the edge of your seat and make you want to watch it over again. Empire Strikes back equals pure magic

    #3 Avengers
Marvels the Avengers was one of my most anticipated movies of 2012. I saw this movie four times in theaters and loved everytime more and more. Im so excited to own this movie so i can watch it even more.

#2 Star Trek every one of them
That right Star Trek film series. These movies are just awesome. They may get corny at times but are awesome. The new one in particular I can watch over and over.

    #1 The Dark Knight Trilogy
This may be a bit obvious but I'm  huge batman fan. Batman has blow my mind from the first time I saw the animated series. I watch these movies all the time and plan to own all of them. I quote these movies just about every day and work on my Joker impression almost every day. So in conclusion I love Batman

Lots of you are probably wondering wheres Lord Of the Rings?!?!?!?!?!?  Well I love those movies but I cant just sit down and watch them once a week like some of these movies. Great movies but they are Ben Hur great I can appreciate them but cant watch them but once a year.

    • This movie is one of the greatest films of all time. Why isn't higher on my list well its because its not a movie I'm dying to watch again right after I watch it. Now its story will suck you in right from the beginning. I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't seen it so here at number ten is the Shawshank Redemption.

Classic Movie Wednesday #4 The Nutty Professor

Nutty Professor movie review

Eddy Murphy in a fat suit who's brilliant idea is that? This week I decided I'd watch one of Eddy Murphy's best movies. I understand that's not saying much considering his best is probably Shrek an animated film. First, the basic plot of this film isn't very creative. Its about a fat professor who wants to lose weight using science. Now it does get interesting when he becomes skinny because he develops an alternate personality named Bobby Love. Bobby Love is a jerk to be honest the polar opposite of Sherman Klump. In addition Eddy Murphy plays just about every character in this movie; he plays the entire Klump family except the youngest Klump. Eddy Murphy did a decent job in this film. Some of his funniest moments come from his characters Bobby Love and the family at the dinner table. In fact the majority of what I enjoyed about this film took place at the dinner table scenes. One character I found annoying was a comedian that Sherman and his date went to see. This guy wasn't even funny and was extremely rude. A good feel moment of this movie was when Eddy Murphy got up on stage and made fun of him. The only plus of having this character was that he was susceptible to some of the funniest jokes. One thing that didn't make sense to me in this movie was that Sherman got a date with a girl way out of his league. Seriously, I get that its not whats on the outside, but come on he is about four hundred pounds and has no personality. In conclusion the Nutty Professor is a descent movie. It has its moments in the comedy department, but as far as story goes its not that great. Frankly they could have just filmed a movie about the Klump family because that would have been hilarious. So The Nutty Professor gets a 5 out of 10. Its not bad its just not amazing its worth at least one watch. Just about everyone will laugh at some point in this film not the entire time but some times. If you want more laughs watch Batman from the 1960s and pretend like they are serious actors. Gosh darn Batman what are we going to do? If anyone takes this seriously please take the time to sit down and watch a good movie. Perhaps the Dark Knight or Ghostbusters or Mission Impossible. Please don't give up on movies until you try others.

Friday Night Movies #6 Wrath of the Titans

Wrath of the Titans Movie Review

After the previous film Clash of the Titan's lack of success most were unsure if a sequel would be made. When I first saw the previews for this film, I was in awe it look action packed. Let me be the first to say Wrath of the Titans is one fight after another. Within the first few minutes we see our hero in a huge battle and a few minutes later we see the gods in a huge battle. Also the fight scenes in this movie are all choreographed very they look very realistic. Even the fights with the CGI creatures look and feel real. In addition the actors in this movie were descent; I really didn't get to emotionally attached to anyone. Sam Worthington did an okay job in this film. He plays Perseus the son of Zeus a demigod. Honestly he was better than he was in the previous film but not quite as good as he was in Man on a Ledge or Avatar. I understand that its not his fault due to crappy writing. He is a great actor but the way i view it you could have one of the funniest men like Robin Williams in a movie but if the writing and jokes stink the actor can't do anything about it. Frankly this movie has an amazing cast Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes all of these men are well know actors. Honestly this poor story line inhibits their abilities to make an instant classic. One thing I did enjoy about this movie was the main plot. This doesn't relate the the characters dialogue which I hated. But the idea that all the Gods are dying and a super titan is going to destroy the world is insane. That right their makes an instant summer block buster. In conclusion Wrath of the Titans is a descent movie not a great movie but okay. Defiantly worth a rent at least once it would be a great rainy day movie. With not stop action and a list full of great actors they only way this could go bad is that the dialogue is poorly written. Wrath of the Titans gets a 7 out of 10. If this film had the dialogue of Gladiator or of Taken it could be great. Perhaps every movie doesn't get to be like Ben Hur and have everything. For those of you who don't know what Ben Hur is its probably the greatest film ever. So Sam Worthington just focus on the next avatar.

Classic Movie Wednesday #3 Batman and Robin

Batman and Robin Movie Review

This was a highly anticipated film for its time, but soon became the one movie we all wanted to forget. Batman and Robin was the fourth Batman film made in the 90's and was hands down the worst. When I began reading through the list of cast member's I saw George Clooney and Arnold Schwarzenegger and thought well that's an interesting combo. Both great actors just not right for a Batman film. George Clooney plays Batman in this film and wow is it a lower quality Batman. A giant leap down from Michael Keaton's previous performances. If I ever see  George Clooney's name under a super hero film, I will probably burn the Studio making it to the ground. I have a genius idea lets get a petition  started stating that George Clooney should only do stupid movies about a guy taking a plane on trips. Next lets talk about Mr Freeze played by Arnold Schwarzenegger one phrase describes him " Ahhhh my wife she is frozen ahhhh". Half the time I don't know what he is saying. I look up quotes from this movie and they have Mr Freeze quotes, well I don't recognize any of them. I like Arnold Schwarzenegger in other movies such as: Kindergarten Cop, Twins and Terminator, but his role in this movie is just awful. Frankly the story they have for him is all about how he is trying to save his wife and after seeing this movie I'm sick of hearing about his wife. Guess how he covers up the pain of losing his wife, he has his henchmen perform the Ice Miser song from a Year Without Santa. I know whenever I'm upset I smash a beer bottle and dance in an abandoned barn but that's just me. Along with the crappy acting this movie also has a terrible plot believe it or not. Poison Ivy is the main villain in this film and she is really pointless. Now Ivy couldn't do it alone so she gets bane to help her. Bane is a masked wrestler on steroids that never speaks all he does is grunt and punch. Other than the obvious problems Bane is a side kick in this film even though in the comics Bane is just as smart and stronger than Batman. In addition I normally like the Batman costumes and gadgets, but every costume or weapon seemed to come out of party city. I mean really if Batman were to walk out at night with that on he might gain a few guys phone numbers and could become a human disco ball. Also look at Batman's chest its like he is wearing a skin tight shirt not armor. I understand freezes layer was cold but seriously you could cut diamonds with his nipples through out the entire movie. In conclusion if anyone says to you oh lets watch Batman and Robin its a great film, you should probably shun them for all of eternity. Also if you ever say George Clooney was a good Batman you should personally apologize to everyone who has ever played Batman. One thing that could have made this movie experience a lot better is either burning every copy of it or adding having batman and every villain die within the first few minutes. My rating system allows me to only go as low as 1 out of 10 but this movie clearly deserves a -1 out of 100. So save yourself about two hundred brain cells and don't watch Batman and Robin.

Friday Night Movies #5 The Bourne Legacy

The Bourne Legacy Movie Review

This is the fourth instalment of the Bourne series and most of us were unsure if a Bourne movie could be possible without Matt Damon. The standard set by Matt Damon was extremely high. So when Jeremy Renner was named the main star I'll admit I was upset ,but eventually accepted it. The first thing I noticed is that the plot of this movie seems a bit like the fourth Mission Impossible. The company that created the program suddenly wants to dissolve and terminate all of the operatives, sound familiar? But other than about twenty minutes that seemed  a bit dull this movie is action packed and a thrill ride from beginning to end. The main character Aaron Cross played by Jeremy Renner has the same set of skill and abilities as Jason Bourne. The main difference between the two characters is that Aaron Cross knows who he is and Jason Bourne had to discover who he was. Obviously the writers are stating that these are two different  individuals and the plot clearly states that multiple times. In addition the casting of Jeremy Renner was spot on. He played the part to the tee. Honestly, I was expecting the Mission Impossible Jeremy Renner ,but instead I got a whole new role. He walked as if he could not only kill you, but knew he would kill you. The look of intensity he had throughout the entire film made it that much greater. In conclusion the only down side to this movie is that their wasn't enough action scenes. The original three films was one fight scene after another so to me they focused to much on the company and what the company was going to do next. So more explosions, shootings and Russel Crowe in a gladiator costume. So the action this movie had was intense but needed more of it. Adding this or Russel Crowe would probably make this the best Bourne film yet. The Bourne Legacy gets a 7 out of 10 only for the few dull moments ,but all in all a great movie. Jeremy Renner deserves a big yes if he wants to do a follow up film possibly with Matt Damon?

Jack and Jill movie Review

Jack and Jill Movie Review
Jack and Jill is about a brother and sister that get together for the holidays. Now Jack is a successful business man and Jill is the exact opposite she is a slob, annoying and grotesque. I went into this movie optimistic not expecting it to be good or bad. Frankly i was just hoping for a time killer, but instead it was a complete waste of time. Honestly this movie is dreadful probably the worst movie of this year. Its supposed to be a comedy, but I'm pretty sure comedies are funny and this movie isn't at all. None of the jokes work and some jokes are just gross. I knew going into an Adam Sandler movie that it was going to be hit or miss, but i never realized that this movie could be so awful. First off the acting in this movie seems like every other Adam Sandler film the same old actors, the same voices and the same crappy jokes. The standard films like Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison and Anger Management set was apparently to high for any other one of his films to reach or at least get close to. This movie needed many things to get it to a descent level like Bill Murray with a proton pack destroying everything. Seriously this movie should be used to interrogate people. Get a Terrorist in a room start playing Jack and Jill and he will create a power point presentation for every single question you have. Water boarding will seem like a relief to these men they might start asking for it. In conclusion if you are considering watching this movie after reading this review then you should probably check yourself into the nearest mental institute. First tell them your sane, then tell them you wanted to see Jack and Jill the will have no problem committing you. So Jack and Jill gets a 1 out of 10 in this reviewers eyes. Jack and Jill will most likely cause your eyes to implode and your ears to bleed until God decides to  put you out of your misery.

Friday Night Movies #4 Social Network

Social Network movie review

The Social network is a movie about the creation of Facebook. I had heard good things about this film from multiple critics and frankly they were completely wrong. This movie is extremely boring and very long or it just felt long. This film is also very confusing its hard to tell the past and the present due to the fact that the characters look the same. I understand that it all happened in the same year but the could have at least had captions to state past and present. Perhaps the narrator from SpongeBob could have helped out to make the time changes smoother. First off the one person I actually enjoyed watching in this movie was Jesse Eisenberg. He was the only thing stopping me from turning this movie off ten minutes into it. Honestly his performance wasn't Oscar worthy, but compared to the rest of the movie it was outstanding. In addition this proves my theory that every movie Justin Timberlake stars in is awful. His characters screen time may have been brief, but it was just enough to take this already bad movie to the level of awful. All they needed was Taylor Lautner to make an appearance to make this the worst movie of all time. In addition the plot of this movie is thin, but that was understandable because its based on a true story. But they could have put Batman chasing a villain in the background to add some sort of intense scene. In conclusion this film really isn't worth your time and I frankly regret watching it. I'm giving the Social Network a 4 out of 10 frankly its not worth your time. If you are considering watching this film, don't go do your taxes it will be more productive and entertaining than this movie. So ask Siri to remind you not to watch the social network.

Classic Movie Wednesday #2 Real Genius

Real Genius movie review
Real Genius is a movie about this young fifteen year old high school genius who is sent to college to help build a laser. Now when he arrives at this college he finds his roommate Chris Knight played by Val Kilmer. First off Val Kilmer was outstanding in this movie. His comedic timing is impeccable during certain scenes he had me rolling on the floor. His presence in this movie is hilarious he is so sarcastic throughout the entirety of the movie. I didn't really care for any of the other actors in this film honestly they aren't even good enough for a mention. Now one thing that was lacking in this film was the plot. Seriously when someone ask you to build a laser strong enough to vaporize a human what do you think they are going to use it for. It also seems like their isn't enough character development I'd like to get to know Chris Knight more. A flash back would have been nice a look at what he was like as a freshman student. In conclusion this is one of the few 80s comedies i actually enjoyed watching. I'm giving Real Genius a 7 out of 10. Other than the lacking plot,  this movie was very enjoyable and deserves at least one watch. I hope you enjoy this classic as much as i have and thank God for Val Kilmer.

Friday Night Movies #3 Book of Eli

Book of Eli review
When I began watching this film, the only question on my mind was is this going to be Denzel Washington's one bad film. The answer to that question is no this movie is probably his best film. This movie takes place in a post apocalyptic America. Where Eli played by Denzel Washington is a traveler who posses the last Bible on earth. Now first off Denzel Washington was outstanding in this film. His character was virtually unstoppable throughout the entirety of the film. He had about seven men shooting at him and they all missed.Thats just how unbeatable Eli is throughout the entire movie. Another thing this movie has going for is the bone crushing action scenes. Most of these epic fights are Eli out number seven to one and he still manages to come away with only a little blood on his knife.. This movie is violent and gory, but that just makes it so realistic. When you first see Eli rummaging through a dead body for supplies, you realize just how dark of a film this is. With such an intense story most people would probably mark this one off their watch list but please don't. Over all this movie is very intense and thrilling from start to finish. Its good for a Friday night thriller that will leave you in awe. I'm giving it a 9 out of 10. The only problem i have with it is that its not a movie I could watch at any time. Its probably a one time watch but that one time is an amazing time. So in conclusion check out Book of Eli as soon as you can. I won't disappoint you in anyway and will give you an appreciation for the little things like clean water. Book of Eli is a must see for anyone who calls himself a film fanatic

Classic Movie Wednesday #1 Philadelphia

Philadelphia movie review.

Philadelphia is a movie about a respected lawyer"played by Tom Hanks" who is a homosexual man who develops Aids. Once his law firm finds out they fire him. Now he has decided to sue his law firm and hires a lawyer to do so played by Denzel Washington. Now let me first say Denzel Washington did a fantastic job. He really seemed like he had genuine feeling for Tom Hanks character. Also the way he presented himself through out the film was remarkable. I could easily see him being a lawyer. Tom Hanks did a great job in this film as well. During some of the scenes where he was becoming ill or when his illness was getting worse were very impactful. You could really see the emotion through the way he presented himself from scene to scene. Another thing good about this movie was the plot. It really wasn't a court room drama. This movie has heart to it and some really emotional parts. Because after you see the swells on his body you realize just how real it is and you begin to feel extremely bad for him. In conclusion this movie is good. It gets a 7 out of 10, its not quite perfect and some people may not enjoy it, but I strongly recommend you give a chance. So head over to your nearest library or block buster and pick up Philadelphia. It may not crack you top ten movies of all time but it makes for a good rainy day movie.

Friday Night Movies #2 The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises Review

This the third installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman series. This was one of the most anticipated films of this year and it truly lives up to all of the expectations. After this film's predecessor The Dark Knight's massive success, most people were unsure whether or not this film would be as good. The standard the Dark Knight set for super hero films is almost unreachable, but the Dark Knight Rises reaches that standard and more in my opinion. First off Christian Bale was outstanding in this movie he really played the part of our beloved dark knight justice. The emotional presence he brought to the screen was impeccable. You could feel his emotion and feeling he acted as if Gotham city was his home town. Now for the villain Bane, I was excited to see that Bane was getting to be a major villain for once not a henchmen like in Batman and Robin. The guy actually has a brain behind all that rage and brute strength. Tom Hardy in my opinion stole the show as Bane. When his character spoke or walked you couldn't help but stare in awe. Just waiting in the anticipation of what is he going to do next. Now the last of the main three characters Cat Woman. She was played by Anne Hathaway who I was personally unsure of due to the fact that she had never really played a villain before. But to my surprise she was pretty amazing as cat woman. The way she moved as if she was really a thief was remarkable. In addition to the amazing cast this film has an thrilling story. I'm not going to give anything away due to the fact that spoilers ruin a movie for people. But this movie is a thrill ride from start to finish. Its not your average superhero movie because its story has substance and a realistic feel to it. In conclusion the Dark Knight Rises gets a 10 out of 10. Whether or not this movie is better than the Dark Knight is all up to you because i frankly don't want to choose. To me they are like Bible verse's I love them both equally. Would I see this movie again? Absolutely and in fact I have plans to see it in Imax 3D for my next viewing. So in conclusion the Dark Knight Rises is well worth your money and is this critic's favorite movie of this year.

Avengers Movie Review

Avengers Movie Review
Earths mightiest hero's have finally assembled on to the big screen. This movie was revolutionary as far as comic book films are concerned. A shear phenomena due to the fact of the giant crossover done by four of our most praised superheros. The team consist of probably four of the most well known super hero's marvel has. First off Marvel Studios you never cease to amaze me with your cast selecting skills. Probably the person that stood out the most was Robert Downey Jr as Iron man. He was outrageously funny throughout the whole film, but could easily draw you back in for an intense serious moment. Now the one character that caught every one's attention was the Hulk. Director Joss Whedon 's Hulk was captivating every time he entered the screen. For me, I believed the Hulk had something to prove after the last movie because I didn't feel his dominance as much. The Hulk in this movie was actually funny. It wasn't even anything he said it was his actions and comedic timing that made him hilarious. The plot of the Avengers isn't your average superhero movie's. Its actually unpredictable at times and shocking at others. In addition not only is the Avengers a great film due to plot and characters, but it also looks stunning. The CGI is outstanding. It literally looks like the Hulk is standing right next to Captain America. In conclusion Marvels the Avengers gets a 10 out of 10. For myself and comic book fans this movie can't disappoint you in any way. My recommendation go see the Avengers in the nearest Imax or 3D theater near you. Its defiantly worth your time and if you are like myself you will want to see it over and over again.

Friday Night Movie's #1 Amazing Spiderman

 The Amazing Spider Man Review
This was round four for our beloved Peter Parker in an attempt to produce a film worthy of this beloved superhero. Some would say this was too early of a reboot for the Spider Man franchise, but after the disappointment of the last three installments this movie could not have come fast enough. First of all, Marvel Studios did a fantastic job on the cast selection; Andrew Garfield was extremely captivating. He  proved to be a great choice for portraying our web-spinning science geek. He really seemed like he cared about the role, displaying a Spider Man who was emotional, but not in a sad depressed kind of way like Tobey Maguire who seemed like he was taping an episode of What I Like About . It would have been nice to see a little more of the signature Spider man sarcasm and cockiness, though. Additionally, the Lizard stood out to me as an incredible enemy, especially when you consider how many other movie villains are currently vying to grasp the audience's attention in modern cinema. He seemed next to unstoppable throughout the duration of the movie. The Amazing Spider Man was thrilling and intense. The plot was awesome and showed a more realistic display of Peter Parker obtaining his powers and adapting to them. In conclusion, this movie was visually stunning; the action scenes looked and felt intense. I did not have the pleasure of seeing it in 3D, but wish i would have. So the Amazing Spider man gets an 8 out 10. It's not perfect, but overall it is still a great movie well worth your time and money. Now as for Marvel Studios: you have eliminated 1/3 of the mental scarring from the last three films, so lets make two more to ease the pain we got from watching that sad puppy: Tobey.
